Day 1: Athens
Upon your arrival in Athens, you’ll be escorted to your hotel to freshen up before being whisked off to explore the city by car with one of our experts. Finish off the day with a relaxing dinner.
Day 2: Athens
Spend today diving deep into the history, neighborhoods, and character of Athens. Highlights of your day include the Acropolis and the wonderful new Acropolis museum, the beautiful houses and abundant markets of the Plaka neighborhood; and the famed flea market in Monastiraki.
Day 3: Monemvasia
This morning, travel to Monemvasia in southeastern Peloponnese, 400 meters from the coast (Monemvasia split off after an earthquake in 375 A.D.). Spend the afternoon examining the fascinating ruins of the original buildings, including Byzantine remains.
Day 4: Monemvasia
This area is known for its traditional breads: take a morning cooking class and try your hand at kneading, sifting and baking. Then in the afternoon, enjoy a private tour of Monemvasia’s walled castle, a labyrinth of medieval streets and churches – but with the added amenity of some great modern shops and eateries.
Day 5: Mystras
Spend today in Mystras, a city of ruins. Marvel at the way the city, abandoned centuries ago, has been re-appropriated by nature: vegetation threads through the ruins of buildings. We especially love the ghostly churches, where huge Renaissance frescoes once graced the walls.
Day 6: Epidaurus & Porto Heli
After breakfast, you’ll travel to Porto Heli, a spectacular harbor town on the east coast of the Peloponnese. En route, visit Epidaurus: with abundant mineral springs, it has symbolized health for the Greeks since ancient times – it was here that medicine was born as a profession.
Day 7: Hydra & Spetses
Your private boat is home today. Your first stop is Hydra, the smallest of small towns on an island where cars are prohibited. Dine, shop, or explore the historical archives. Then sail to Spetses, where shipbuilding and maritime trading once made the inhabitants very rich: the glorious mansions here are beautiful evidence of its heyday. Soak up the sunset on your way back to Porto Heli.
Day 8: Mycenae & Nafplio
Mycenae was the star of ancient Greece: indeed, it was known to the ancients as the “golden city.” The museum here is a portal to another time, full of beautiful handcrafted artifacts. Nafplio is next, where layers of architectural influences will be decoded for you by your guide. We recommend visiting the beautiful Turkish mosques before heading home.
Day 9: Porto Heli
Spend today pampering yourself at Amanzoe’s beach club and spa. Amanzoe is a true wellness destination: in addition to manicures and pedicures, facials and massages, there is space for meditation and yoga. Each guest gets a customized wellness treatment – it sounds like heaven, and it is.
Day 10: Depart
Transfer to the Athens Airport and depart.
